The questions that come up on nearly every first phone call.
Are you insured?
WorkSafe BC registered and $2 million liability through Zensurance. We’ll send the certificates before we start — homeowners, strata councils or property managers, whoever needs them. Worth asking any contractor for, because if someone gets hurt on your property and they aren’t covered, it can become your problem.
Will it damage my roof?
Not the way we do it. High pressure strips the protective granules off asphalt shingles and can force water up underneath. We use a low-pressure soft wash and a treatment that kills moss at the root, then give it time to work. Slower, and the only method we’ll use on a roof.
Will the price change on the day?
No. We measure your roof and gutter run from satellite imagery and quote a firm number before we book. That number is what goes on the invoice. The only thing that changes it is you adding work — and we’d tell you the new price before starting, not after.
What about my plants and garden?
Anything that comes off the roof lands on a tarp and leaves with us, and the lawn and driveway get tidied before we go. If you’ve got something particular you’re worried about — a bed right under a downspout, a Japanese maple, a vegetable patch — tell us when you book and we’ll work around it.
Do I need to be home?
No. We only need exterior access. You’ll get an arrival window in advance and a message when the job’s done, with before and after photos so you can see what was up there.
How often does it actually need doing?
Less often than most people are told. Gutters once a year for most homes here, twice if you’ve got cedar hedging. Roofs get a moss treatment every couple of years rather than an annual clean. A newer place with young street trees can sometimes stretch to eighteen months. We’d rather tell you to wait than sell you a visit you don’t need.
What if it’s not right?
Tell us within 48 hours and we come back at no charge. Roof cleaning carries a two-year moss-free warranty on top of that. We would rather fix it than argue about it.
Why here is different

Vancouver averages 1,457 mm of rain a year and Capilano on the North Shore averages 2,522 mm. That single fact shapes every job we do.
Moss grows year-round
In most of Canada moss is a summer problem. Here it never really stops, which is why a roof left five years is a different job from one caught early.
Cedar sheds constantly
Cedar hedging lines nearly every newer lot in Surrey and drops a fine scale all year. It slips through wide-mouth screens and packs the bottom of a gutter.
Big-leaf maple mats down
The older streets in Fleetwood, Newton and Guildford have forty-year-old maples over the roofline. That leaf is heavy and wet and blocks downspout elbows rather than washing through.
Douglas fir reaches the roof
On the North Shore and in Dunbar and Point Grey there are firs that were tall before the house was built. Needles land directly on the roof and work under the first course of shingle.
