It is roof cleaning done without a pressure washer. Instead of forcing water at the shingles, we apply a biodegradable solution at under 100 PSI that kills the moss and algae at the root, then let the weather rinse it. Pressure strips the granules off asphalt shingles and voids most manufacturer warranties — non-pressure soft wash does not. It is the only method we use on a roof.

The treatment kills the spores that are left behind, which is the difference between a roof that stays clean for years and one that greens up again by the following winter.

Yes, and it is the sensible order. Cleaning a roof washes moss and grit down into the gutters, so we do the roof first and the gutters straight after. Booked together it is one visit and works out cheaper than two separate jobs. Most Surrey customers book roof and gutter cleaning as a pair.

Every 2-3 years for a full clean. The smarter approach is an annual soft wash treatment — a light application that kills moss spores before they take hold. With annual treatments you never get heavy buildup, no brushing is ever needed, and your shingle granules stay intact longer. Surrey's wet climate and low winter sun make roofs prime targets for moss.

Yes — especially with high-pressure tips above 1,500 PSI. That level of force strips granules off shingles. Those granules are not cosmetic: they reflect UV, dissipate heat and protect the asphalt layer underneath. Once they are gone the roof ages faster and the warranty is void. We use soft wash under 100 PSI, which keeps granule loss to a minimum and your warranty intact.

Yes. Cedar shake needs extra care — we drop the solution concentration and the pressure further to protect the wood while still removing moss and algae. High pressure on cedar causes splitting and accelerates weathering, so soft wash is the only safe method. We clean cedar roofs across Surrey and Vancouver.

Spring and early summer are ideal — moss is active and easier to treat, and drier weather helps the solution set. That said we clean year round, and autumn bookings are easier to get. Do not wait for perfect weather: moss causes damage every month it is left untreated.
