Roof cleaning done without a pressure washer. Rather than forcing water at the shingles, we apply a biodegradable solution at under 100 PSI that kills moss and algae at the root. Pressure strips the granules off asphalt shingles and voids most manufacturer warranties. Non-pressure soft wash does not, and it is the only method we use on a roof in Vancouver or anywhere else.

Yes, both, and they are worth treating differently from a Vancouver roof. Capilano averages 2,522 mm of rain a year against Vancouver's 1,457, and much of the North Shore sits under forest canopy. Roofs there hold moisture far longer, so we usually recommend a lighter annual treatment rather than waiting three years for a heavy clean.

Included, along with cleaning your gutters out afterwards. Every roof clean finishes with a biocide moss treatment, because cleaning a roof without treating it just resets the clock. The treatment kills the spores left behind, which is the difference between a roof that stays clean for years and one that greens up again by the following winter.

That is how we do it as standard, and gutter cleaning is already in the price. Cleaning a roof washes moss and grit down into the gutters, so the roof comes first and the gutters straight after. Booking them as separate visits costs more and makes no sense.

Yes, especially with high-pressure tips above 1,500 PSI. That force strips the granules off shingles, and those granules are not cosmetic — they reflect UV, dissipate heat and protect the asphalt underneath. Once gone, the roof ages faster and the warranty is void. Soft wash under 100 PSI keeps granule loss to a minimum and your warranty intact.

Yes. Cedar shake is common on character homes in Kitsilano, Dunbar, Point Grey and Shaughnessy, and it needs a lighter touch — we drop both the solution concentration and the pressure to protect the wood while still removing moss and algae. High pressure on cedar causes splitting and accelerates weathering, so soft wash is the only safe method.
